I DID IT !!!

I finally made it!! I was so waiting for this moment. Do you remember I was talking about POI (look for definition here) dancers? Well last night it was full moon and I finally got the chance to see the performances live! I have read about it a lot to get more info on what it was etc. The interest I had on this was because of the super cool effects I can capture on my cheap but good camera. Many of you know that I love photography and that I have done it as a hobby, of course I am not a professional but I do have lots of photos I have taken in the past few years. And so I have a lot of pics I call “my art” on here and it’s basically light effects… love them!

The thing is that I saw Rafael’s photos with the fire effects and immediately fell in love with them, so that’s how I found out about Spunn.org and that’s how I found out about POI, Fire Dancing, etc. and oh man I was in for a super sweat treat!

I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!

Here are some of the my favorite photos… you can look for more (here)

This is one of my favorites...

S.O.D.

Todo tembló
Dentro de mi
El universo escribió que fueras para mi

Y fue tan fácil
Quererte tanto
Algo que no imaginaba
Fue perderme en tu amor
Simplemente paso
Y todo tuyo ya soy

Antes que pase mas
Tiempo contigo amor
Tengo que decir que eres el amor de mi vida
Antes que te ame mas
Escucha por favor
Déjame decir que todo te di
Y no hay como explicar
Pero menos notar
Simplemente así lo sentí

Cuando te vi…

Anyone up for some POI?

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine, Gerardo (the one you have seen on my pics) well he is an awesome artist and the other day I was at his house and he was showing me all this pictures he has of his paintings and stuff… while showing me his pictures, we came across the pictures of another friend of his that I’m getting to know now, his name is Rafael. I am no sure if he is a professional photographer but he has some awesome pictures, really professional looking… I don’t know if you remember that photography is one of my favorite hobbies and even though I haven’t really put enough time and effort to it, lately I been getting more excited for it… Well looking at Rafael’s pictures I found out about some fire-dancing-performing community that gathers on the lake front and perform some cool acts… This Tuesday August 28, I’m going to go to the next one they are going to have and hopefully it will fill my expectations. I will be taking my cheap digital camera and hopefully I will be able to take some cool shots.

Here are some pics of the dances they do…

I got these pics from playpoi.com

V.O.D. (Video of the Day)

I know you might say I'm cheesy but i like Mandy Moore (so What!)

Who said that I don’t know how to party?

I’m glad I’m coming out of the closet again!!! He he he. In the past three years my life has gone from a regular gay guy to a stressed grouchy old man and back… that’s life I would say not everything can be pink, peace and love. Sometimes life takes you in a dreadful road where after a while you lose control of yourself. There was a time when I used to party a lot and have lots of “friends” you know those that tell you they will be with you for better or worse (yeah right!) well they were there, then the story goes I lose my job and was in a not so good situation and then puff! There were no more, anyways so I stopped going out as much obviously and with time I just became super busy with my two jobs… then once I was talking to one of the good friends and he told me something that made me reflect a lot about what had become of me, and he said “Come on Rolando, it is time to come out of the closet AGAIN!” and yeah, I did feel like when I was in the closet six or seven years ago. That’s when I decided to get in touch with people again, then you know the rest of the story, I meet Gerardo, he takes me to a party and then I met a bunch of wonderful (and playful) guys… Soooooooo hehehe my life in the last couple of months has gone wild and alive again… I feel happy, relax, and most important glad I’m meeting new cool people….
here is to all of them

Don't Cry...

The smell of your skin lingers on me now
you're probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
to be with myself and center of clarity
peace, serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
that this has nothing to do with you
It's personal: myself and I
we've got some straightening out to do
and I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
but I've got to get a move on with my life
Its time to be a big girl now
and big girls don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry

Time for more "Friends History" hehehe

Around three or four years ago I met this cool chick at my work place. She used to come and volunteer helping kids with homework from an after school program. At first I didn’t get the chance to talk to her that much or get to know her better but I knew she was cool, she seemed kind of relaxed and with good vibe. But the reason why I didn’t get closer to her back then, was because there used to be a “BRUJA” always with her (LOL)… So there was no more than a hello, goodbye, or the occasional joke between us.

After her volunteering on and off at work, and finishing with college, she recently got hired full time here and since then we have been able to get to know each other a LOT better, and oh man! It has been so freaking cool!

First of all, not only she reminds me of the family values in the US, but also every time I talk to her, I think about California, Los Lonely Boys, and Mexicans from Texas lol! She is super cool, and speaks kind of like a “Chicano” even though she claims not to be one (LOL) but now I have these words always in my mind thanks to her… “That’s so funny!” That’s so COOL!”, “That’s awesome!” “Yeah Dude” (LOL) or the fact that we can mix Spanish with English (Spanglish) really good (I know some people don’t like it, but get over it!) “yeah el VATO was really drunk” or “Dude I’m telling you we got to go get some comida porque I’m Hungry!” (hahaha oh man good times!) Anyways those are just some examples of the educational and work related conversations we have… (*cough* NOT! LOL!) But yeah I am happy that I have another significant person in my life that plays an important role in my Chicano education! Hehehe

Love ya AG!

Stuck in my head --Song of the day

Bad Day...

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to gray
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee you go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Judy ROCKS!

I have a friend at work that is pretty cool… her name-o is Judith Hernandez, I met her at my second job and so far we have been able to develop a wonderful friendship. Cool uh? Ok, the thing is that she is a Substance Abuse Counselor, and because of that and her personal preference I guess, she doesn’t drink alcohol… Unless it was her wedding again LOL! Every time I see her it’s really cool because then we start talking about “chismes” and stuff that happens in our lives. At the end we are always laughing hehehe something negative about her though is that believe it or not... SHE LIKES MYSPACE.COM!!! (Gasps!!!) Isn’t it crazy!?? I know even my dog is surprise LOL!!

Well I have been talking to her about the parties I have gone and organized at home and she has seen the pictures of me drinking, and OMG!! Now all she wants to do is print out those pictures and show them at her classes as an example of what a “Borracho” is LOL! She is CRAZY!!! But I still love her hehehe Anyways I just wanted to talk about my dear friend Judy!

Peace Ya’ll!

Explanation

Transitions… The handling of reflections of happiness that come from weeks, months, or in some cases even years of some sort of interaction. Some times those transitions never come, making the atmosphere to continue on a state of solitude or even a state of nothingness. Some will start their journey pushed by the need of their skin, the need to fuse with one another even for an instant. Others instead, start theirs looking for hope, for more than just a moment they are looking for eternity. Whatever the reason, whatever the need or the purpose, we are there, we all go through similar crossings, but at the end, it is your achievement what matters. It is what it will make you complete, for whatever the reason for whatever your need.

There is a feeling of liveliness that surrounds me. I was able to make the transition, to cross the unknown universe, and clear my atmosphere. I was able to reach, whatever the reason that pushed me to start my journey, at the end… I am here… can you feel me?

Stuck in my head-- song of the DAY!

Sorry...

You're not half the man you think you are
Save your words because you've gone too far
I've listened to your lies and all your stories
You're not half the man you'd like to be

I don't wanna hear, I don't wanna know
Please don't say you're sorry
I've heard it all before
And I can take care of myself

I don't wanna hear, I don't wanna know
Please don't say 'Forgive me'
I've seen it all before
And I can't take it anymore

Don't explain yourself 'cause talk is cheap
There's more important things than hearing you speak
You stayed because I made it so convenient
Don't explain yourself, you'll never see...

Ridiculously EXPENSIVE!

Today I wanted to eat some Thai food and so some of my coworkers and I ordered some from a Thai restaurant near by my workplace… When I went through the menu I saw that they had some pretty good deals and because I was kind of hungry, I ordered a N10 (so it said on the menu) it is roasted duck with wide rice noodles… sounds good right? Well I waited for the delivery to arrive and by the time the food was here I was SO Hungry! Hehehe when my friend handed me the food, she gave me this super small container with just a little bit of duck (understandable) but with just a tiny little bit of noodles!
WHAT??!! “Are you kidding me”, I said!
I really thought she was kidding me and they all were laughing at me… but it was true… that small little thingy was my FOOD! For almost $ 9.00 that’s what I get…It sucks!

P.S. There is a place on Broadway Ave. where you get pretty good deals for MUCH less $$, plus food ROCKS! It's call "Thai Pastry"

Pato food, take into consideration that I have small hands...

Celebration TIME!

The moment I have waited for 5 years finally came LOL!!! Just kidding… Last Saturday it was super cool, Victor and I had the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION at Michael’s house. It was a great get together for friends and us to celebrate all this time that Vic and I have come to be together…

Everything started by us planning our celebration and how we would do it, around three weeks ago, then we though that it would be a good idea to do it in a restaurant then, to just invite people and celebrate with those who would like to accompany us. Anyway, at Richard and Donald’s party I mentioned to Gerardo about the party and everything, to which he suggested it’d be better idea to just make it in someone’s house. He said that it would be more intimate and friends would have a better time… I agreed I though that was an excellent idea, the problem now would be to just find a place to make it… Gerardo and Michael nicely offered either of their houses to do it, due to the fact that Victor’s house its way to far from the city and at my house my relatives live upstairs so…. Yeap… Anyways at the end we decided to make it at Michael’s basically for the size of the house.

That day we got early to his house and started making the preparations like food, drinks, and the final details… I was really surprised of the things that Michael cooked; I mean the guy is an AMAZING chef!He cooked this sweet deep in wine Pears! Potato Quiche! Tuna something! (lol) Chicken! And a LOT of more stuff… obviously there was also a lot of liquor (borrachos) hehehe oh the whole time we were there we really had a good time I gotta thank all of the ones who came and made this celebration a bit more special… Thanks Michael!!! Really, for everything! And to Victor (my Puchix)… Thank you for all this years!! HAPPY FIVE!!

Michael being silly!
